Night owl or early bird?
Nine quick questions about your natural sleep, energy, and alertness place you on the morning–evening spectrum. You'll get your chronotype, your likely peak-focus window, and concrete guidance on when to schedule your hardest work.
Answer for your natural preference — how you'd live if your schedule were entirely your own, not what your job or alarm currently forces. There are no right answers, and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

A snapshot, not a diagnosis. This estimates your morning–evening preference from self-report — it isn't a clinical or sleep-disorder assessment, and your result can shift with stress, season, and age. The most reliable way to confirm your peak is to track your own energy for a week or two. If you regularly can't sleep or feel exhausted no matter your schedule, that's worth raising with a doctor.
About this instrument
What this measures — and what it doesn't
-
Measures
Morning–evening preference
Where you sit on the chronotype spectrum, based on your natural sleep timing, morning alertness, and when your energy peaks. This reflects your internal body clock — real, partly heritable circadian science.
-
Method
9-item preference scale
Original questions inspired by the morningness–eveningness literature, each weighted toward morning or evening. Your total places you in one of five bands from Definite Evening to Definite Morning.
-
Result
Chronotype + peak window
Your chronotype, your position on the spectrum, your likely peak-focus window, and specific guidance on when to schedule demanding work versus routine tasks.
-
Limits
Honest limits
Self-report reflects how you see your rhythm, not always how your body behaves. It's a snapshot that shifts with stress and age, and it's never a sleep-disorder screen. Track your real energy to confirm.
Questions
Before you begin
What is a chronotype?
Your chronotype is your natural preference for when to sleep, wake, and be active — where you fall on the spectrum from strong morning type (Early Bird) to strong evening type (Night Owl). It reflects your internal body clock, which is partly genetic and shapes when you feel most alert.
How do I use my peak window?
Schedule your most demanding, focus-heavy work inside your peak window and protect it from meetings and distractions. Save routine, low-stakes tasks for your off-peak hours. Aligning hard work with your natural high point is one of the simplest evidence-backed ways to get more done with less strain.
Is this a medical or sleep-disorder test?
No. This is a self-reflection tool that estimates your morning–evening preference, not a clinical assessment. It can't diagnose insomnia, sleep apnea, or any disorder. If you regularly struggle to sleep or feel exhausted no matter your schedule, that's worth raising with a doctor.
Is my data saved anywhere?
No. The test runs entirely in your browser. Your answers never leave your device and nothing is stored or sent to a server. Refreshing the page clears everything.
