The short version
AurorIQ does not require an account or email address to take the test or see your result. Your test responses and result are stored locally in your browser. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage and display ads to keep AurorIQ free. Non-essential cookies are only loaded after you consent via our cookie banner.
What we store, and where
- Local browser storage (sessionStorage): your in-progress test responses, cleared when you close the tab or start a new test.
- Local browser storage (localStorage): your most recent result and result history, stored only on your device, so you can revisit it. This is never transmitted to us as personally identifying data tied to your name or email, because we don't collect either. Your cookie consent preference is also stored here.
- Aggregate, anonymized response data: over time, we intend to collect anonymized response patterns (which questions were answered correctly, not who answered them) to improve and eventually empirically calibrate our scoring engine, as described on our methodology page.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-50T6XM1Z3P) to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and how the adaptive test is used. Google Analytics is loaded only after you provide consent via our cookie banner. When loaded, it collects standard usage data including page views, approximate geographic region, browser type, device type, and referring URL. IP addresses are anonymized. This data is used to improve the site and is not used to identify individual visitors personally.
Advertising
AurorIQ is a free service supported by display advertising, served through Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-2335913078491957). The AdSense script is loaded only after you provide consent via our cookie banner. When loaded, Google's advertising network may use cookies or similar technologies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing activity across the web. You can manage ad personalization through Google's Ad Settings, your browser settings, or the DAA opt-out tool.
Our advertising relationship does not influence the content of our test, the scoring algorithm, or any editorial content published on this site.
Cookies and similar technologies
AurorIQ uses a consent-based cookie model. Non-essential cookies are only set after you accept them via the consent banner that appears on your first visit. Here is what we use:
- Essential (no consent required): localStorage entries for your test result, result history, and consent preference. These are strictly necessary for site functionality.
- Analytics (requires consent): Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*, _gid) used to measure site usage. These are set only after consent is granted.
- Advertising (requires consent): Google AdSense and related advertising cookies used to serve and measure ads. These are set only after consent is granted.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data for auroriq.com, which resets your consent preference and removes all cookies.
Your rights (EEA, UK, and Swiss visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent legislation, including:
- Right of access: you may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: you may request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: you may request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to restriction: you may request that we limit how we process your data.
- Right to object: you may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to data portability: you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
In practice, because AurorIQ does not collect accounts, email addresses, or personally identifying information, we hold very limited data about individual visitors. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@auroriq.com and we will respond within 30 days.
The legal basis for processing analytics and advertising data is your consent, which you provide via the cookie banner. You may withdraw this consent at any time as described above.
California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Because AurorIQ does not collect personally identifying information, sell personal data, or maintain user accounts, most CCPA provisions have limited practical applicability to our service. However, you retain the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell any), to know what data we collect (described above), and to request deletion. Your choices
You can clear your locally stored result at any time by clearing your browser's site data for auroriq.com. Because we don't hold an account system, there is no separate "delete my account" process beyond clearing local browser storage. You can also manage your cookie preferences by clearing site data, which will reset the consent banner on your next visit.
Children's privacy
AurorIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our site, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Third-party links
Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Data security
AurorIQ is served over HTTPS, and all data in transit is encrypted. Because we do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers, the primary data relevant to you (your test result and preferences) exists only in your browser's local storage on your own device.
