Disclaimer

Important information about the nature of AurorIQ's service, the limitations of online cognitive assessment, and how this site is funded.

Educational and entertainment purposes only

AurorIQ is a free, online cognitive self-assessment tool designed for personal curiosity, self-reflection, and educational entertainment. It is not a clinical, diagnostic, medical, psychological, educational, or legal instrument. Your result should be treated as an informal estimate of cognitive performance on the specific tasks sampled by this test, not as a definitive measure of intelligence or cognitive ability.

Not a substitute for professional assessment

Nothing on AurorIQ constitutes medical, psychological, educational, or legal advice. If you have concerns about cognitive function, learning differences, neurological conditions, or mental health, please consult a licensed psychologist, neuropsychologist, or other qualified healthcare professional. A proper cognitive assessment requires a validated clinical instrument (such as the WAIS-IV, WISC-V, or Stanford-Binet 5) administered under supervised, standardised conditions by a licensed professional.

AurorIQ scores cannot be used for Mensa applications, educational accommodations, disability assessments, employment screening, court proceedings, or any other clinical, legal, or official purpose.

Accuracy and limitations

While AurorIQ uses item response theory (IRT) with a three-parameter logistic model, the item parameters are currently expert-seeded estimates and have not yet been empirically calibrated against a large representative sample. Scores include a 95% confidence interval to reflect this inherent measurement uncertainty. Day-to-day factors such as sleep quality, stress levels, familiarity with the test format, and testing environment can shift results by several points in either direction. A detailed discussion of limitations is available on our methodology page.
