Plain-language summary

Before the legal detail: here is what this policy actually means in practice.

  • We do not require you to create an account to take the test.
  • Your test answers and IQ score are processed in your browser and stored only in your device’s sessionStorage. They are not sent to our servers.
  • We use minimal, privacy-preserving analytics to understand traffic patterns. We do not use advertising trackers.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.
  • If you contact us by email, we store that correspondence only as long as needed to respond.

1. Who we are

AurorIQ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at auroriq.com and its subdomains. For questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@auroriq.com.

2. Data we collect

2a. Data you voluntarily provide

We collect personal data only when you choose to provide it:

  • Email address — if you sign up for our newsletter via the footer form. This is optional and not required to use any feature of the site.
  • Email correspondence — if you contact us at our support or feedback addresses, we store your message and email address in order to respond.

2b. Data collected automatically

When you visit AurorIQ, our hosting infrastructure automatically receives standard web server logs, including:

  • Your IP address (anonymised before storage)
  • The URL you requested
  • Your browser type and operating system
  • The referring URL (the page that linked to ours)
  • Date and time of access

These logs are used solely for security monitoring and aggregated traffic analysis. They are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are not linked to individual identities.

2c. Test data

Your responses to the AurorIQ test and the resulting IQ score estimate are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. This data is written to your browser’s sessionStorage to display your results during your visit. No test response data is transmitted to our servers. When you close your browser tab, the data is deleted.

We do collect anonymised, aggregated statistics about test completion — for example, the proportion of users who complete all 25 questions, or the distribution of time spent per question. These statistics contain no individual identifiers and cannot be linked back to any specific user.

3. Analytics

We use privacy-preserving web analytics to understand how the site is used. Our analytics provider does not use cookies, does not track users across websites, and does not build individual user profiles. No personal data is shared with our analytics provider.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other advertising-network analytics product.

4. Cookies

AurorIQ uses a minimal number of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — used for security (CSRF protection) and to maintain basic site functionality. These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
  • Preference cookies — if you dismiss a notification or set a display preference, a cookie stores that preference so you do not see it again. These expire after 365 days.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies of any kind. Our analytics solution is cookieless.

5. Third-party services

AurorIQ uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Google Fonts — we load typefaces from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address per Google’s standard infrastructure. We self-host fonts where possible to minimise this.
  • Email newsletter provider — if you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored with our email service provider. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email.
  • Hosting / CDN provider — our hosting infrastructure logs requests as described in section 2b.

We do not embed social media widgets, advertising networks, or retargeting pixels.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable data protection law (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR):

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to rectification — you can request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g. newsletter), you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@auroriq.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

  • Server logs — maximum 30 days, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Email correspondence — retained for up to 2 years after the final exchange, then deleted.
  • Test data — not stored on our servers; deleted from your browser when you close the tab.

8. Children

AurorIQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Users aged 13–17 should use AurorIQ with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. Results from online IQ tests should not be used to make any significant decisions about a minor’s education or development without professional assessment.

9. Security

AurorIQ is served exclusively over HTTPS. We apply standard web security practices including Content Security Policy headers, CSRF protection, and rate limiting. Because we collect minimal data, our attack surface is small. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any data transmitted over the internet, but we take reasonable steps to protect what little we do hold.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without prominent notice.
