Fluid reasoning

Pattern extraction and valid inference on novel problems — the reasoning that works without relying on stored facts. It's the ability most central to what psychologists mean by general intelligence, and the least tied to schooling.

15 graded items, weighted

Five easy, five medium, five hard across four problem types — series, syllogisms, deduction, odd-one-out. Presented easiest-first, options shuffled each run, and scored so a hard win counts triple an easy one.
Result
Internal index + tier breakdown

An internal score index plus how you did at each difficulty — showing whether you plateau at medium or push into the hard tier. Near-chance accuracy is flagged and the score withheld rather than dressed up.

Honest limits

Fifteen items is a snapshot, not a normed instrument, and fluid reasoning is state-dependent — fatigue and stress lower it. This is for self-reflection, never a credential, aptitude decision, or verdict on anyone's mind.

Scoring & evidence

How the logical reasoning score is built

This instrument draws 15 items from three difficulty tiers: five easy, five medium, and five hard. Correct answers are weighted 1, 2, and 3 points respectively, so success on harder items contributes more than success on easier items. The weighted proportion is then adjusted above the 25% chance level of a four-option item and mapped to an approximate 1–99 composite. If raw accuracy is 30% or lower, the internal index is withheld because the response pattern is too close to chance to interpret responsibly.

That calculation is transparent, but it is not a population-normed IQ subtest. The composite is an internal scale for this item bank. It has not yet been calibrated against a representative sample or independently compared with professionally administered fluid-reasoning measures. Use it to examine how you handle series, deductions, syllogisms, and rule discovery—not as a credential.

Because the tool runs in the browser and the scoring script contains no answer-upload network request, your item responses are evaluated locally in the current codebase. Site analytics and advertising, when enabled, are separate from the scoring calculation.

What does a logical reasoning test measure?

Your ability to spot patterns and draw valid conclusions — through number and letter series, syllogisms, deductions, and odd-one-out problems. It taps fluid intelligence: reasoning that works on novel problems rather than stored knowledge.

How is this different from the verbal test?

Verbal reasoning leans on vocabulary you've accumulated — crystallized knowledge. Logical reasoning leans on extracting rules and applying valid inference in the moment, which depends far less on language background or education, making it a fairer measure across groups.

Why are harder questions worth more?

The score weights each item by difficulty, so clearing the hard tier counts for more than sweeping the easy one. That way your result reflects the ceiling of your reasoning, not just how many gentle warm-ups you got right.

Is a high score proof of intelligence?

No. Fifteen items is a snapshot, not a full assessment, and a single number never captures a mind. This is an educational instrument for self-reflection — useful for seeing how you approach novel problems, not a credential or a verdict.
